Echo has come out with a do-it-all entry-level saltwater rod series, the Ion XL. The Ion XL replaces the previous Echo Ion rods. The new Ion XL is extremely versatile; although it’s designed for saltwater, these rods can also be used for freshwater streamer fishing and Steelhead fishing. Rajeff Sports created these rods to be accurate from a host of distances in multitudes of fly fishing scenarios. As a result, the Ion XL is a rod that boasts solid all-around performance and great castability.
Slim Profile High Modulus Graphite Design - Rajeff Sports created a responsive blank when designing the Ion XL. The Ion XL has ample power and the blank design creates a medium fast action rod with short distance and long distance capabilities. The versatility of the rod blank allows anglers to feel comfortable casting in a large variety of fishing situations. The blank of the Ion XL makes it a solid all-around saltwater or freshwater rod.
Oversized Stripping Guides - Oversized stripping guides allow large saltwater lines to shoot nicely through the guides of the Ion XL. Oversized guides also allow knots to quickly run through the rod in the case of a tangle.
Single Foot Guides - Single foot guides help eliminate unneeded weight from the Ion XL to keep the rod lightweight and easy to cast. These guides offer industry-accepted performance and functional style.
Gloss Black Anodized w/Uplocking Component - The reel seat on the Ion XL is lightweight and durable. Black anodized aluminum protects the rod from weathering and a double uplocking component locks any reel in place. The reel seat on the Ion XL also comes with alignment dots, a feature we’re used to seeing on rods but one that is also helpful on a reel seat.
Grey Fabric-Covered Rod Tube - The Ion XL comes in a grey rod tube with an Echo insignia. Fabric-covered rod tubes protect rods during time off the water and are a solid mid-priced alternative to an aluminum rod tube.
Echo Fly Rod Lifetime Warranty - Echo will repair or replace any defective or damaged rods for the entire lifetime of the original owner. All rods must be sent to Echo for repairs/service. As of 4/17/2019, Echo charges a $35 fee for fly rod repairs/replacements.
